In addition to the plans and booklet that Jay sends out, I also found the below sources of information very helpful:

"The Strip-Built Sea Kayak" by Nick Schade. A comprehensive book on the strip building process.

"Ocean Kayak" by Vaclav Stejskal. Vaclav has some cool methods and tricks, He was also kind enough to provide very detailed answers to my emailed questions.

http://www.kayakforum.com A great resource of some very experienced builders. The people here are friendly and helpful.

http://www.redfishkayak.com/ Joe Greenley is a professional in the strip building process. In addition to kayaks, he sells supplies and (like Vaclav) was very generous with information. I would encourage people to buy materials from Joe.
bob > Most of the material in this kayak is Red and Yellow Cedar. It was all ripped down from 2X material. Most of the strips measure 1/4" thick X 3/4" wide. I chose to use a bead and cove application but many people choose butting the edges (with a slight bevel).
bob > Feather boards are helpful to achive consistant thinkness in the strips.

bob > I used 3/4" partical board for the stations but plywood would be better
bob > The plans call for starting at the shear line and working up to the keel but I instead tried a method that I read about at: www.kayakforum.com--- where you start at the keel line and work down to the waterline running the ends "wild", then scribe a finish line, and cut all the ends off at the same time.
